Police have arrested another middle school teacher in the embattled Celina Independent School District.
Jainya Bystrova Walder, 40, was removed from her classroom Thursday afternoon under suspicion of intoxication, then taken into custody and charged with child endangerment, according to a notice sent to Moore Middle School parents from Interim Principal Kendric Smith.
Walder is a 6th grade English Language Arts and Reading teacher at Moore Middle School.
“We notified our SRO, District administration, and the Celina Police Department immediately,” wrote Smith.
Smith said the district also notified the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the Texas Education Agency/State Board for Educator Certification, as required by state law, and will cooperate with the Celina PD in any investigations.
The Celina Police Department stated that it responded to a call regarding a Celina ISD classroom teacher who appeared to be impaired.
Upon arriving at Moore Middle School, police questioned and subsequently took the teacher into custody. Jainya Walder, 40, of Celina, was arrested and transported to the Collin County jail where she was booked on the charge of Endangering a Child. The case will be referred to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office. The Celina Police Department cannot offer any further information at this time.
Walder was booked into the Collin County Jail on October 30. Bond has not yet been set.
Abandoning or endangering a child is a state jail felony punishable by a maximum of two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000.
Walder holds a valid Texas teaching certificate and has been certified since 2021.
“I am proud of our staff member who alerted our administrative team of this matter, and we continue to emphasize to students and staff the importance of when any of us ‘see something, say something,’” Smith added.
Smith is serving as interim principal of Moore Middle School while Principal Allison Ginn is on administrative leave, along with Head Coach Bill Elliott. Superintendent Tom Maglisceau placed the two on paid “non-disciplinary” administrative leave on October 24 while authorities investigate coach Caleb Elliott’s illicit locker room recordings of male student athletes.
Caleb Elliott was a 6th grade teacher and 8th grade coach at Moore Middle School and is Bill Elliott’s son. He was arrested earlier this month on charges of invasive visual recording and possession of child sexual abuse material and has since been allowed to resign.
Several families are now suing Celina ISD, Caleb and Bill Elliott, and Ginn, accusing them of negligently enabling Caleb Elliott’s predatory behavior.
Thousands of Texas educators have been reported to the TEA for misconduct.
