U.S. Rep. Chip Roy sent a letter to the San Antonio Police Department demanding answers about an illegal alien recently charged with shooting at three San Antonio Police Department officers.

“I write today because my constituents are rightly concerned about the massive influx of illegal aliens into the San Antonio region and deserve answers on the increased illegal alien population’s impact on public safety,” wrote Roy (R-21).

Responding to a domestic violence call in late July, the three SAPD officers found the suspect lying in bed with a rifle by his side, who then began shooting. One officer was struck multiple times and required surgery at a local hospital.

The alleged shooter, 25-year-old Jorge Chacon-Guiterrez, an illegal alien from Venezuela, reportedly entered the U.S. through Eagle Pass in November 2023.

Roy has requested crime data from San Antonio Chief of Police William McManus about illegal alien-related calls to SAPD from the San Antonio Migrant Resource Center (MRC). The facility is not far from where the incident occurred.

He also asked Chief McManus if the SAPD had encountered Chacon-Gutierrez before and whether he was ever a resident at the San Antonio MRC, which has provided “shelter to at least 345,907 foreign nationals.”

Additionally, “at least 626,232 illegal aliens” have arrived in San Antonio since 2021, mostly from “Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, Honduras, and Haiti.”

In a social media post on Monday about illegal alien crime, Roy said on X, “Any crime committed by an illegal alien is a preventable one, which needlessly creates victims and puts responding officers in greater jeopardy.”

Criminal activity, gangs, and human trafficking remain major problems in Texas, due to the Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies.

Earlier in August, Texas Scorecard reported that a lawsuit was filed against the Biden-Harris administration for its policies that have allowed countless illegal aliens to enter the country unlawfully and create significant damage to South Texas communities.
