Exciting announcement for Round Rock homeowners and businesses: your city council is giving away a whopping $50,000 in cash to one special winner.
For those homeowners and small businesses interested in applying, you’re unfortunately already disqualified. The prize is only for a special hand-picked favorite of the city council.
On Thursday night, the Round Rock City Council celebrated their new relationship with Chatsworth Products, a California-based IT equipment manufacturer who is now moving to town. The council liked Chatsworth so much, they made a special deal that will only apply to them: the city will give Chatsworth a check for $50,000.
Unfortunately for the rest of the city’s homeowners and businesses outside city hall, this exclusive perk doesn’t apply to them. Indeed, they’re the ones that will be left with the bill for this 50-grand giveaway.
That $50,000 check is actually paid by you, the rest of the city’s homeowners. The city council is taking your tax money and giving it to their new favorite company.
How’s that for justice?
Sadly, Round Rock City Council has been playing a corrupt game of favorites for a while. Chatsworth joins a small, elite group of businesses such as Dell, Emerson, and Kalahari Resorts; not only do they all get special perks that you, the taxpayer, don’t, but you are the one actually paying for all of their bonuses.
“Chatsworth’s investment in people and property is welcomed with open arms in Round Rock,” said Mayor Craig Morgan in a press release.
The city council has certainly welcomed them into their inner circle with an open wallet, but for the rest of the city’s citizens — you can simply pay for it.
