A San Antonio Catholic school coach is accused of secretly recording students and adults changing clothes in his campus office, as well as his sexual encounter with another adult.
Armando Arnulfo Flores, 34, was arrested Tuesday by the San Antonio Police Department and charged with invasive visual recording, a state jail felony.
Flores worked at Holy Cross of San Antonio, a private Catholic middle and high school.
Holy Cross Principal Rene Escobedo issued a statement on October 3 indicating that an unnamed employee was fired following a “credible report” of misconduct on campus.
“Parents of individual students who may have been impacted will be contacted individually by the school administration,” wrote Escobedo.
Flores is accused of using a motion-activated camera hidden in a clock on his office desk to make the recordings, which investigators say captured at least three students and a part-time staff member changing, as well as Flores having sexual intercourse with another adult.
According to a report by KSAT, an arrest affidavit alleges that Flores captured “many images” of a victim undressing, but a search warrant revealed that images and videos had been deleted remotely from the camera’s SD card.
On Monday, an attorney for Holy Cross told KSAT that SAPD has the only copy of the footage and that the school is working with police to identify three students who were victimized.
When we identify them, we will not disclose who they are to protect their privacy. Whether we can identify the students or not, our policies and procedures clearly direct that parents must be made aware of these incidents and that we must operate with full transparency in all cases.
On Wednesday, Principal Escobedo issued another statement acknowledging Flores’ arrest.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our paramount concern,” wrote Escobedo. “We have fully cooperated with the SAPD throughout this investigation and are committed to ensuring justice is served.”
Flores was booked into the Bexar County Jail on October 8 and released the same day on a $7,500 bond.
State records show Flores holds a Texas teaching certificate, which is currently under review by the Texas Education Agency.
Flores is the second Texas school coach in two weeks accused of secretly recording students.
Last week, now-former Celina ISD middle school teacher and coach Caleb Elliott was also arrested for invasive visual recording. He’s the son of the district’s longtime Athletic Director Bill Elliott. The suspect’s boyfriend, a 2024 Celina High School graduate who was hired this year as a special education aide at the middle school where Elliott taught, no longer works at the school.
Flores and Elliott are among hundreds of Texas educators accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years. Thousands have been reported to the TEA for educator sexual misconduct.
