A former Katy teacher’s aide is accused of sexually abusing two young boys for years while she babysat the brothers in their home.
Hailey Hedspeth, 34, was charged with two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, a first-degree felony punishable by 5 years to life in prison, and two counts of sexual assault of a child age 14 to 17, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
The alleged abuse took place between 2017 and 2023, while Hedspeth was living in the boys’ home. For part of that time, she was also working as a special education aide.
Online records show Hedspeth worked for the Katy Independent School District from 2021 through 2023, overlapping the time of her alleged sexual abuse of the children.
According to the district, she resigned in 2023. Katy ISD reported Hedspeth to the Texas Education Agency in April 2023 for in-school sexual abuse (SXIS).
A probable cause affidavit dated February 17, 2026, alleges Hedspeth’s sexual assaults occurred multiple times over the years, ranging from touching the boys’ private parts to sexual intercourse.
The complaint states that Hedspeth abused one boy from the time he was 13 years old until he was 15, and the other boy from the time he was 11 until he was 14. She was in her mid-twenties when the abuse began.
The boys’ parents learned of the alleged abuse in 2023, after in-home security cameras caught one of the boys going in and out of Hedspeth’s room. The babysitter was also allegedly having sex with the boys’ father.
An investigation began after a report was made to Child Protective Services, prompting a joint review by CPS and the Houston Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit.
The boys told investigators that Hedspeth’s abuse led to emotional trauma, porn addiction, and dropping out of high school. Hedspeth may have also transmitted an STD to one of the boys.
They also told investigators they were concerned Hedspeth was having sex with other teens because she was a teacher.
Hedspeth was not charged in 2023. One of the boys told investigators that his mother wanted to press charges, but his father did not.
According to the affidavit, the boy stated that “his mother was in shock and his dad chose the Defendant over protecting him and his brother.”
Police paused the investigation at the family’s request but reopened the case in 2025 after the boys’ mother asked investigators to move forward.
Investigators said Hedspeth denied the allegations and claimed they were motivated by the fact that she was sleeping with the victims’ father.
Hedspeth was booked into the Harris County Jail on February 18. Total bonds were set at $160,000.
She was certified as an educational aide in 2020. Hedspeth’s certification expired in September 2024, but she is still under TEA review.
Over the past few years, a growing number of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children, and thousands have been reported to the TEA for sexual misconduct.
