A former NFL hopeful is accused of soliciting sex from a 16-year-old female student while he was coaching at his old high school in Texarkana.
Te’Vailance Ramone Lashawn Hunt, 26, was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor, a third-degree felony punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison.
Hunt worked as a coach at Texas High School in Texarkana Independent School District from August until November, when the allegations arose.
An assistant principal at the school notified the Texarkana Texas Police Department in November about an inappropriate relationship between Hunt and the student, according to a report by the Texarkana Gazette.
The girl told authorities she received multiple Snapchat messages from Hunt between November 10 and 12 in which the coach requested nude pictures of the teen and suggested they meet at night.
Hunt’s messages reportedly asked the teen about sexual activities and said he could teach her some “tricks,” a probable cause affidavit stated.
In one of the messages, Hunt allegedly told the girl, ”Keep your mouth closed! And don’t tell anyone.”
Search warrants for Snapchat verified the girl’s allegation that Hunt requested nude photos of her.
The girl also told authorities that she knew of at least one other teen who was talking to Hunt online.
Police discovered that the district was investigating Hunt for an August incident in which he asked a different 16-year-old student to communicate with him on Instagram.
Hunt was arrested and booked into the Bi-State Detention Center on December 3 and released the next day on a $100,000 bond.
State records indicate Hunt does not hold a Texas teaching certificate, and he is not on the state’s Do Not Hire Registry.
Hunt graduated in 2018 from Texas High School, where he was a varsity football player and a four-star recruit. After playing college football for Texas Christian University and Arkansas State, he declared for the 2023 NFL Draft but was not drafted.
He is among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years—including in Texarkana ISD.
Another Texas High School employee, band teacher Brandon Sams, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for engaging in sexual activity with students after grooming them on social media and messaging apps.
