Two teachers in Huntsville Independent School District have been arrested in separate incidents involving sex crimes.
Demondrae Marquise Murray, 34, was apprehended on March 19 by the Huntsville Police Department as part of a sex trafficking operation in Huntsville and charged with soliciting a prostitute, a state jail felony.
Murray was a teacher at Mance Park Middle School.
Huntsville ISD released a statement saying the district was made aware of the arrest on March 21 and that the allegations “do not involve any district students, other staff or district facilities.”
State records show Murray holds a certificate to teach special education.
Murray has since been released from the Walker County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
Eric William Buchek, 42, was arrested on March 27 by the Huntsville Police Department and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
The offense includes sexual contact or sexually explicit communication with a student, regardless of their age.
Buchek taught at Huntsville High School, according to a statement released by the district.
State records indicate that Buchek does not hold a teaching certificate.
He has since been released from the Walker County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
According to Huntsville ISD, neither teacher will be returning to the district.
In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas teachers have been accused of sex crimes.
