Another candidate has joined the race to succeed outgoing U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon), who has served since 1995.

Wichita Falls resident Jamie Culley has officially filed to run for the 13th Congressional District seat in the 2020 race. The district encompasses Amarillo, Wichita Falls, and smaller Texas Panhandle cities.

Culley is a business consultant who holds a degree from the University of Phoenix. According to her campaign, she is a pro-life candidate who also supports Second Amendment rights, military families, and first responders.

Culley joins a growing Republican primary field for the upcoming election: Vance Snider, Monique Worthy, Josh Winegarner, Kevin McInturff, Elaine Hays, and Chris Ekstrom are all seeking the Republican nomination. Former Potter County Justice of the Peace Richard Herman is also exploring a bid.

Democrat Greg Sagan is unopposed in his primary.

Candidates will begin filing for spots on the ballot on Saturday, November 9.
