McArdle: Why the Former Libertarian Party Chair Is Voting for Ken Paxton

Vote, just don’t waste your vote.

Ken Paxton

I’m the former Libertarian Party Chair. Here’s why I’m voting for Ken Paxton.

Four years ago, I moved to Texas from California to escape the tyrannical, anti-liberty policies of California. As a transplant, I feel it’s my duty to help keep Texas Red.

The choice in the Texas U.S. Senate race could not be clearer for Libertarians.

We must vote for Ken Paxton to be Texas’ next U.S. Senator.

Libertarians must rally behind the idea that our influence can make a difference because our ideas make a difference in the lives of ordinary Americans.

If we truly embrace personal freedom, we must leverage those ideas with our voting power to secure individual rights immediately.

This 2026 election cycle gives us that exact power.

The election of Democrat James Talarico would be a disaster for Texas and America, economically, morally, and spiritually. He represents everything Libertarians despise.

Talarico is on the record in favor of higher taxes and wealth redistribution.

He wants price controls. He wants the government to regulate your energy choices.

Talarico also opposes parental choice in education, while restricting 2nd Amendment rights.

When the Covid-era mask mandate was lifted, Talarico wanted the ineffective, unscientific masking to continue. He also believes in forcible, mandatory vaccinations for school-age kids if “school districts” deem it necessary.

He supports teaching kids “critical skills for identifying misinformation” at public schools and libraries, a preferred progressive euphemism for imposing political censorship.

Talarico is also on the record for government regulation of cryptocurrency.

Paxton, on the other hand, is the only candidate who supports individual freedoms with his actions, not just talk.

On November 25, 2024, Paxton sued the SEC over its attempts to regulate cryptocurrency platforms.

“Federal bureaucrats in Washington have no authority to dictate to States how they should interact with cryptocurrency nor do they have the power to crush this new field with a regulatory framework that Congress never intended,” said Paxton.

Paxton sued the Biden administration 106 times to stop the “intentional effort by Biden and his deep state cronies to subvert our laws, destabilize our nation, and undermine our freedoms.”

That support is crucial to help secure the release of the cryptocurrency prisoners who were prosecuted by the Biden administration.

Keonne Rodriguez, Roman Storm, Roman Sterlingov, Ian Freeman and Nevin Shetty were unjustly convicted by the previous administration.

The election of Paxton can help secure a pardon for them with the White House.

His influence, however, will be far greater if he has the imprimatur of Texas’ next U.S. Senator.

And you have the power to help give him that, help secure freedom for these people and secure your own freedom at the same time.

The government under the Biden administration effectively created a chokehold on the actions of the individual.

We watched this literal chokehold strangle others before our eyes from 2021-2025. And not just during Covid.

Those whom the Biden administration viewed unfavorably were systematically debanked and bureaucratically attacked by unelected regulators under the Biden administration’s Operation Choke Point.

They were singled out simply for their ideology, for their religion and merely for their exercise of constitutionally protected rights.

“Targeting Americans over their political views erodes trust in the financial system and undermines the core freedoms our nation was founded on,” said U.S. Rep. French Hill.

We can’t afford to go back to the type of government coercion that Talarico’s party, and frankly his ideas, represent.

Nor can we vote for the alternative.

Ted Brown is simply an ineffectual but perpetual Libertarian “paper candidate.” Ted also hails from California, but instead of preserving the Texas values that brought him here, he’s running to split the vote and hand victory to Talarico. While Ted might claim he wants more freedom for Americans, he’s known for participating in No Kings Protests and opposing ICE.

Vote, just don’t waste your vote.

Help Libertarians leverage real political power into policies that make a difference for our country.

I ask you to exercise your principles, your power and your purpose by voting for Ken Paxton for the next U.S. Senator from Texas.

Free the remaining crypto prisoners and stop the progressive war on our freedoms.
