As we head into the final stretch before the November elections, conservatives are getting needlessly nervous.
It is one thing to “run like you’re one point behind,” but it is another to think the opposition’s cheerleaders are feeding you good information. They are not. Most of the polls you see on social media and breathlessly reported by the establishment media are trash.
The left knows their ideas are destructive to human happiness. They know that the only way they can “win” is if you are depressed, discouraged, and in hiding. Don’t give them that power.
Don’t Waste Your Power
Republicans are miserly with governing power. They fret about needing it “some day,” so they don’t use it while they have it. Sticking a hundred-dollar bill in your sock drawer might be useful for a short-term emergency cache, but after four years that $100 is now worth just $89. After a decade? $58.
Political power similarly declines in value the longer it is held and unused. Indeed, Republicans’ unwillingness to deliver on long-promised reforms contributes to their base getting wobbly. Promises of future action are less useful than forcing through reforms today.
Knowing they were facing a blowout in the 2010 elections, the Democrats threw together every single “health care” idea and discarded piece of legislation to make the regulatory nightmare known as “ObamaCare.” They had no idea what the effect would be; they were hell-bent on using their power before they lost it.
Conservatives should demand that their public servants likewise don’t let dust gather on the levers of power while they are in charge.
Don’t Let Them Gaslight You
There is an industrial-grade machine devoted to making you feel ashamed of your values and principles as a conservative. Certainly, the co-conspirators of political consultants and journalists want you to believe that your deeply held convictions are out-of-touch and heading for the dust heap of history.
They want you depressed heading into the election. Some of the consultants program that depression into guilt-ridden campaign contributions (of which they take a percentage), while others want you in such despair you stay at home. Ideally, in their world, you are making the contributions and staying home.
It is all manufactured; conservatives’ values are on the ascent. For years, folks following the Texas Legislature have been treated to James Talarico’s carefully prepared speeches extolling the most radical interpretations of trans ideology. He has pushed from the floor of the Texas House obscene and heretical notions about religion.
If his ideas were so popular, and his values so “mainstream,” why has he been engaged in a month-long effort to disavow nearly all of them? He now refers to those scripted speeches as “cringy” and his prepared remarks as “misspoken.”
They know, intuitively, that their values and ideas are anathema to the vast majority of Americans. So they have engaged in a two-front fight: depress and demotivate you, while lying about themselves.
Don’t Be Glum
No election is won without effort, which is why the leftists, their media sycophants, and political enablers like Karl Rove are working so hard to depress you. If your values, principles, ideas, and candidates weren’t on the right track, they wouldn’t be working so hard to derail them.
The other side is a grim lot because they know that their ideas are wrong. They want you to be as miserable as they are. So, you must choose instead to exude the confidence that comes with being on the right side of history. You are engaged in the noblest of fights.
Count it all joy to be fighting for a bright, shining future. We are on the side that sets captives free and proclaims liberty!
In the fight for the republic, we must be happy warriors. So, gird up your loins and be of good cheer. Fight like you are winning, because you are.
