Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says he will be investigating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ recent move to fly illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

DeSantis made headlines after two planes filled with 50 illegal aliens from Texas—including some from Bexar County—were flown by to Martha’s Vineyard by way of Florida.

During a press conference earlier this week, Salazar called the flights from his county “an abuse of human rights.”

“What infuriates me most about this case is that here we have 48 people that are already on hard times, they are here legally in our country. At that point, they have every right to be where they are, and I believe they were preyed upon,” Salazar said.

Florida’s flights to Martha’s Vineyard come after Texas has bused over 10,000 illegal aliens to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago since April.

Recently, Gov. Greg Abbott announced he sent more than 100 illegal aliens to Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence in Washington, D.C., saying that they will continue sending illegal aliens to sanctuary cities so long as the administration continues to ignore the problem.

“The Biden-Harris Administration continues ignoring and denying the historic crisis at our southern border, which has endangered and overwhelmed Texas communities for almost two years,” said Abbott. “Our supposed Border Czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, has yet to even visit the border to see firsthand the impact of the open border policies she has helped implement, even going so far as to claim the border is ‘secure.’ Texas will continue sending migrants to sanctuary cities like Washington, D.C., until President Biden and Border Czar Harris step up and do their jobs to secure the border.”

The move came just days after “border czar” Kamala Harris visited Houston and claimed the border was secure and there were no signs of an invasion.

Though the investigation is brand new and Salazar is still trying to figure out who the suspects are and what charges to bring forth, he says that they are working with private attorneys representing the illegal aliens.

“The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into the migrants that were lured from the Migrant Resource Center, located in Bexar County, TX, and flown to Florida, where they were ultimately left to fend for themselves in Martha’s Vineyard, MA.” Salazar said in a tweet.

Though the illegal aliens were flown out to the Massachusetts island, just two days later residents were seen cheering and waving them goodbye as they were bused to a military facility off the island.

This is not first time Sheriff Salazar has waded into political issues. Earlier this year, Salazar stated he would refuse to enforce Texas’ anti-abortion laws in Bexar County.
