In an effort to highlight the burden that illegal aliens place on Texas, as well as the lax immigration policies of the Biden administration, Gov. Greg Abbott has sent 135 buses with 5,100 illegals to Washington, D.C., and more than a thousand migrants to New York City.

Abbott’s press secretary, Renae Eze, told CNN, “Washington, D.C., finally understands what Texas has been dealing with every single day, as our communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President Biden’s open border policies.

“If the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, she should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border—something he has failed to do.”

State Rep. Matt Schaefer (R–Tyler) and many others, including Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, are calling out the actions of Gov. Abbott as a gimmick or photo op, saying illegal migrants should be deported back to Mexico instead of being moved further into the country.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who campaigned heavily for allowing migrants to illegally cross the border, is now struggling to keep up with the buses coming into her city and is calling on the National Guard for help.

”I’ve asked for the deployment of the Guard as long as we need the Guard to deal with the crisis that we expect to escalate,” Bowser said. “The number of people crossing the border seeking asylum we expect to only go up. And we need to make sure that there is a national response, not an ad hoc, city-by-city, state-by-state response.”

Bowser complains about having 5,000 illegal migrants in D.C. Meanwhile, Texas has received more than 200,000 in 2022 so far.

Goliad County’s sheriff told Fox News, “If Mayor Bowser wants to see what a real humanitarian crisis looks like, she should come to Texas and witness one firsthand.”

Tom Fitzgerald of Fox News said this is an “about face” for Bowser, who publicly welcomed illegal aliens to D.C. regardless of their immigration status. However, the situation in D.C. has worsened, and Bowser is now demanding that the National Guard transform its armory into an illegal migrant processing center.

D.C isn’t the only city receiving unwanted illegal aliens. As of August 4, the first busload of illegal migrants from the Texas-Mexico border arrived in New York City. Abbott explained his reasoning, saying, “In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city. I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”

But while illegals continue to be bused out from Texas, Abbott has yet to declare an invasion on the southern border, a move that would allow the state to repel illegals without assistance from the federal government.
