With Election Day just four days away, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are preparing for a possible surge of illegal aliens at the Texas-Mexico border.

“We’re closely monitoring, there’s tens of thousands of immigrants right now just waiting to see what’s going to happen,” said DPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez.

Although DPS is anticipating a surge of illegal aliens to flood across the border following the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, Olivarez said Texas remains ready for it. He also posted on social media platform X that state law enforcement will continue to hold the line at the southern border.

Yet, while Texas prepares for another surge, illegal border crossers who have already come across continue to engage in crime across the country.

Among those that cross are “special interest” illegal aliens—individuals that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security considers to be potential national security threats.

Late last month, a special interest illegal alien from Mauritania reportedly opened fire on an Orthodox Jewish man in Chicago, Illinois.

Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, 22, shouted “Allahu Akbar,” an Islamic phrase meaning “God is greater,” and shot the Jewish man, severely wounding him. The man was on his way to a synagogue.

Shortly afterward, he exchanged gunfire with police officers for an extended period before getting wounded himself. He is now in a hospital and is facing a long prison sentence according to the Center for Immigration Studies.

“For days afterward, a downplaying Chicago media could not bring itself to report Abdallahi’s immigration status as the national presidential election campaign debate was reaching its fevered apogee, centered on the public safety consequences of the historic mass migration border crisis in flooded American cities like Chicago,” CIS Senior Fellow Todd Bensman wrote.
