As illegal border crossers continue pouring across the Texas-Mexico border, the Texas Department of Public Safety captured an Iranian man under the auspices of Operation Lone Star—Texas’ response to the Biden administration’s border crisis.

DPS troopers, with the help of drones, located the man in Brownsville after he crossed illegally between ports of entry and attempted to evade capture.

According to DPS, the man possessed multiple passports as well as fake immigration documents.

He will now face state charges for criminal trespassing.

In addition to the Iranian, troopers arrested two men from Moldova after they breached a razor wire barrier along the Rio Grande River in Eagle Pass.

According to the U.S. State Department, Moldova, a former Soviet-bloc country in eastern Europe, is riddled with “deep-seated corruption.”

Human and drug trafficking as well as government corruption are substantial issues for Moldova—one of Europe’s poorest countries.

Andrew Arthur, a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, recently accused the Biden administration of “gambling” with national security:

The president and his immigration advisors are literally gambling the safety of the American people, our homes, and our institutions on their hopes that no foreign national with the means to make it to the Southwest border has any motivation to attack our country. That’s a bet I wouldn’t take, and I doubt the 9-11 commission would take it either.

“The apprehensions from nations around the world, including America’s adversaries, highlight the dangers of the Biden administration’s dismantling of all common-sense border security policies undertaken by the Trump administration,” Chris Russo, president of Texans for Strong Borders told Texas Scorecard.

“For every apprehended illegal alien from hostile nations, there are gotaways who enter our nation undetected, undermining our national security,” said Russo. “Until we have a turnover in presidential administrations, it is up to the State of Texas to stem the tide and ensure that illegal crossings cannot continue apace. Governor Abbott must call the Legislature back in a special session to address this issue—we cannot afford to wait until 2025 for action.”

For nearly a year, Texans have been calling on Abbott to assume the powers present in the invasion clauses of the U.S. and Texas constitutions, which have been clearly laid out in a step-by-step plan, and secure the state from the ongoing invasion at the Texas-Mexico border.
