While Texans suffer the consequences of an open border, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has resumed busing illegal aliens to Vice President Kamala Harris’ front door.

Abbott sent dozens of illegal aliens to Washington D.C. last week and over the weekend, with buses dropping some off at the Naval Observatory—the vice president’s official residence.

In March 2021, President Joe Biden appointed Harris as his administration’s “border czar” and tasked her with finding ways to alleviate the border crisis; however, Abbott said Harris failed in her assignment.

“Texans and Americans deserve a real Border Czar who will step up and face Biden’s border crisis head on,” said Abbott.

Although Abbott started busing illegal aliens north last year—costing taxpayers $1,400 per ride—he took a short break from the program and only recently restarted the campaign after the expiration of Title 42.

Title 42 is a public health order that allows customs officials to send illegal aliens from “COVID-19 impacted” areas back across the border without processing them through the federal court system.

The order expired last week, leaving Texas’ southern cities to contend with thousands of illegal aliens gathered along the border under the false impression that U.S. officials would let them in the country when Title 42 ended.

In response, Abbott restarted his program to bus illegal aliens into “sanctuary cities” such as Chicago, Philadelphia, D.C., and New York City, promising to continue the scheme until President Joe Biden secures the border.

Outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot took issue with Abbott’s program and said Chicago was struggling to provide 8,000 illegal aliens with water, food, and medical services.

Abbott told Lightfoot that Texas border towns are even less equipped to handle an influx of illegal aliens than Chicago.

“As the mayor of a self-declared sanctuary city, it is ironic to hear you complain about Chicago’s struggle to deal with a few thousand illegal immigrants, which is a fraction of the record-high numbers we deal with in Texas on a regular basis,” wrote Abbott. “Texas border towns like Eagle Pass, Brownsville, and Laredo—and even bigger cities like El Paso—cannot handle the flood of illegal immigrants rushing across our southern border.”

On social media, Abbott reported that Texas has bused more than 17,000 illegal aliens north—including more than 9,200 to Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the city is running out of room to house illegal aliens and blamed the federal government.

“We do not have unlimited space for D.C. residents or for people who are seeking asylum from other countries,” said Bowser. “This is a national problem that is going to require a national solution, but it is not in the District.”

Texas Scorecard has premiered Exposed: Border Invasion, the highly acclaimed podcast series’ fifth season, where you can learn more about what’s happening on the border and why.
