Tax-and-spend liberals would have us believe that all music, joy and laughter will fade away unless legislators hike spending and raise taxes.

As we wait for the introduction of the 2012-2013 budget this evening, we can expect liberals will flow forth with tales of how civilization will collapse if any government program is cut or reduced.

We’ve heard it all before, it’s just what liberals do.

Prudent spending, not crisis-mongering, will balance Texas’ budget. The imperative must always be for legislators to spend only what is available to them. Legislators shouldn’t dampen economic growth by forcing Texans to pay for more government.

More than ever, Texas taxpayers are demanding strict fiscal responsibility from our legislators.
