Businessman Nate Sheets has ousted incumbent Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller in the GOP Primary Election.

Sheets is a Navy veteran, businessman, and served in the ministry before running for agriculture commissioner. He built Nature’s Nate into a national honey brand, which has received recognition for its quality products and clever advertising.

Gov. Greg Abbott endorsed Sheets for the role in late January and has been campaigning with him across the state leading up to election day. Sheets also benefited from the endorsements of several grassroots organizations that had previously been with Miller.

Miller, who received a last-minute endorsement from President Donald Trump on Friday, has served as agriculture commissioner since 2014. Miller has also faced much scrutiny regarding his chief of staff, Todd Smith, who was arrested in 2021 on charges of commercial bribery and theft, charges to which he pleaded guilty in 2024.

Sheets will face Democrat Clayton Tucker in the November General Election.
