Republican candidate Marc LaHood has beaten Democrat candidate Laurel Jorden Swift for Texas House District 121.

LaHood won the Republican primary this past spring with 53.4 percent of the vote against incumbent State Rep. Steve Allison, who received 39.5 percent.

Gov. Greg Abbott and conservatives opposed Allison’s candidacy after voting against school choice during this past legislative session. He also voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton. He has served in the legislature since 2019 and endorsed Democrat Swift in the general election.

Meanwhile, in House District 118, Republican John Lujan defended his seat against Democrat challenger Kristian Carranza. Lujan has represented District 118 since 2021, when he flipped a long-standing Democrat-held seat.

During his 2022 race, Gov. Greg Abbott lost House District 118 by fewer than 1,000 votes. It was a seat that Democrats were hoping to flip.

Both districts are within Bexar County.
