Stan Stanart secured the GOP nomination for House District 126 Tuesday night, beating opponent Kelly Peterson.
The seat was left open by State Rep. Sam Harless, who did not run for re-election.
Stanart served as a Harris County clerk from 2010 to 2018 while Peterson received the endorsement of Harless, having served as his district director for the past four years.
On November 3, 2026, Stanart will face his opponents, Democrat Stefanie Bord and Independent Lisa Emerson, in the General Election.
Celeste Cabrera-Huff secured the GOP nomination for House District 40 while Gary Groves was projected to win the Republican nomination for House District 41 as of publication. Both seats are currently held by Democrats.
