Texas A&M University at Galveston promoted an upcoming drag show in a university newsletter sent to students, faculty, and staff this week.
The event is organized by the student group Sea Aggie Pride. A Texas A&M spokesperson told Texas Scorecard that any recognized student group can submit event notifications to AggNews and that the university is not providing financial support.
The newsletter, dated October 6, provides details for the event including its time and location. The newsletter contains links and QR codes for both ticket sales and to recruit performers.
The event is slated to take place off campus on October 16.

Texas A&M System leaders have faced scrutiny over prior university involvement in drag performances. Regents banned on-campus drag shows in February 2025.
System rules, however, grant senior system officials wide latitude to oversee the contents of newsletters sent through official channels.
Texas A&M System Rule 09.02 grants the Board of Regents “authority to protect the use of the names, logos, trademarks, and other identifying marks of the system and its members.” That same rule directs Chancellor Glenn Hegar to “take reasonable steps to enforce this policy as necessary.”
Texas A&M-Galveston is a component of the Texas A&M University System. The Texas A&M system is overseen by a Board of Regents that is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Texas Senate. Robert Albritton of Fort Worth is the current board chair.
