Texas A&M Regents To Appoint Abbott Critic to Veterinary Committee

Glenn Rogers previously stated that Governor Abbott “defiled the Office of Texas Governor.”

Former State Rep. Glenn Rogers Appointed to a Texas A&M veterinary board.

The Texas A&M System Board of Regents is poised to appoint former state representative Glenn Rogers, known for attacking Gov. Greg Abbott, to a Rural Veterinary Incentive Program Committee.

The proposed appointment is part of the consent agenda for Thursday’s board meeting; consent agendas are intended to approve non-controversial items quickly.

The committee in question is a state-level entity managed in coordination with the Texas Animal Health Commission. The committee works with Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The appointment was submitted by Tommy Williams, interim president of Texas A&M – College Station. TAMU system chancellor Glenn Hegar approved Williams’ submission.

Rogers received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in 1978 and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine two years later.

Rogers frequently clashed with Abbott and grassroots conservatives during his time in the legislature. He lost his 2024 re-election bid to current State Rep. Mike Olcott (R—Aledo) after Abbott endorsed Olcott.

Following his election loss, Rogers told the Weatherford Democrat that “the corruption that exists at the highest level of Texas state government would have made Governor ‘Pa’ Ferguson blush.”

“Governor Greg Abbott has defiled the Office of Governor by creating and repeating blatant lies about me,” Rogers continued.

James ‘Pa’ Ferguson was impeached by the Texas legislature in 1917. He is considered by some to be the most corrupt governor in Texas history.

Texas A&M – College Station is a component institution of the Texas A&M System. It is overseen by a Board of Regents appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Texas Senate. Robert Albritton of Fort Worth is the current board chairman.
