Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office says state investigators have detained 50 illegal aliens in the Houston area and turned them over to federal authorities for deportation. These immigration enforcement operations are being done in collaboration with President Donald Trump’s administration.
The Office of the Attorney General’s Criminal Investigation Division recently executed raids at multiple locations and businesses throughout the greater Houston area that were “known to promote or be connected with criminal activity.”
The operations reportedly led to the detention of 50 individuals in the country illegally, who were then transferred to the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation proceedings.
Paxton framed the detentions as part of a broader pushback against an invasion of illegal aliens under the Biden administration.
“Texas has been invaded by foreign illegals who rob Americans of their safety and opportunity,” Paxton said, accusing President Joe Biden’s administration of allowing “tens of millions of aliens” into the country and bringing “disaster, disease, and crime.”
He contrasted that with his partnership with the Trump administration, saying his office is helping “round up these criminals and send them back to where they came from.” He closed with a blunt message to those detained: “Adios!”
Last year, Paxton’s office signed a 287(g) agreement, a federal program that allows designated state and local officers to perform certain federal immigration enforcement functions in cooperation with ICE. That agreement formally enabled the OAG to assist in identifying and processing illegal aliens for mass deportation as part of its criminal investigations work.
The OAG says it is continuing to partner with local and federal law enforcement agencies to “hunt down, detain, and deport illegal aliens in order to make America safe again.”
