With the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee now adjourned, delegates from Texas are expressing positivity and renewed motivation to re-elect Donald Trump.
Abhiram Garapati described his experience as “absolutely priceless.” He said, “Sitting as a delegate on the same floor along with President Trump, Governor Abbott, and all the Republican senators, congressmen, and governors is an honor and privilege. The whole event is electrifying with love for the country driving the spirit, and the whole stadium is celebrating with a united Republican party getting fired up to win the November election and doing what is best for the American people.”
Garapati emphasized the significance of the convention’s location. “The RNC being held in the same state where the Republican party was founded inspires many delegates to take the message of working harder to fix America’s issues and make it the greatest country again.”
For Gary Inmon, a veteran of four conventions, this year stands out. “I’ve participated as a delegate to the last four conventions, and 2024 is by far the most exciting and inspirational. Our country desperately needs new leadership, and Trump is the man, and now is the time!” he proclaimed.
Amy Stretcher Burkes, attending her first National Convention, found the event incredibly inspiring. “The message of uniting together so America can be safe again and great again is inspiring. The message of being the party of everyday hardworking Americans, who are joyful warriors, is exactly what this country needs,” she said.
Wendy Carr, also a first-time attendee, shared her excitement and gratitude as an alternate delegate. “I have had an absolutely amazing experience. I am eternally grateful to my Delegate for sharing half of his floor time with me. Having family back home see you on TV makes this convention a more special event for them, making them feel a part of the action. It is an honor to be the first woman to be a national Delegate from Bastrop County. I want to thank my County, CD, and the Lost Pines Republican Women for their support in getting me to the national convention,” she said.
For Lois Gremminger, attending her first National Convention has been an eye-opening experience. “I have been very pleased with the lineup of speakers and the extra events at the Convention Fest area. Most of all, I am so impressed by President Trump’s determination to come to the convention just two days after an attempt on his life,” she said. “He is definitely a strong warrior with a heart for the everyday person. It shows with the everyday speakers being from all walks of life. He honestly cares. It’s not political; it is his personality and love for every American. Our world so desperately needs his unification of the people.”
Gremminger draws inspiration from a Biblical reference. “The phrase in the book of Esther, which says, and I will paraphrase, ‘I have been created for such a time as this,’ is the feeling I get about Trump. It has been a blessing to serve Fort Bend County.”
Molly White, a former Texas State Representative, expressed her concerns regarding changes to the Republican platform. “As a Texan and woman who has been hurt by and lives with lifelong regret of abortion, I have worked with many like-minded Texans to end abortion. I am extremely disappointed in the process in which our strong pro-life plank was removed from the platform and changed to a watered-down version,” she explained.
The Trump campaign took over the RNC convention and the Committees, and during the Platform Committee, the chairs refused to let the Delegates engage in debate and amendments. This is very concerning to me as a lifelong Republican. Certain issues, like life, should never be compromised in hopes of getting votes.
The Democrat National Convention is slated to take place August 19-22 in Chicago.
