No, not the University of Texas football team, the State of Texas according to a piece by the Financial Times of London.

Texas was ranked number one in its measured ability to weather the current economic downturn based on four economic indicators.

Texas leads the nation in three of the indicators: employment growth rate, state product growth rate (GSP), and personal income growth rate.

In the fourth category, home foreclosure rate, Texas ranked the best among other states with similarly large populations.

Gov. Rick Perry remarked that the ranking is a result of the hard work done to curb taxes in the state. Though this is the case, we will have to press for further reform in order to keep the state ahead of the curve.
