After it was discovered that Camp Mabry in Austin was to be the site for a ‘Unit Fun Run’ in support of the LGBT political agenda, officials at the Texas Military Department are now saying the event will not be happening.

The Texas Military Department was set to host an event honoring Out Youth, an organization that serves “LGBTQ youth” in North Texas and aims to provide a “safe space” for gender-confused children.

A flyer obtained by Texas Scorecard showed that Texas Military Department officials sent the advertisement through official channels using government resources.

A source told Texas Scorecard that he was informed by TMD officials that “the event was not sanctioned or authorized by TMD, didn’t go through the proper channels and will not be happening. They believe individual service members did it without authorization.”

Texas Scorecard reached out to TMD officials who said that “the event was not sanctioned, approved or authorized by the Texas Military Department.”

TMD officials have not confirmed on the record that the event has been canceled. It is unclear what, if any, actions will be taken against “service members” who acted “without authorization.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is the Commander-in-Chief of the Texas Military Department, which includes the Texas National Guard, the Texas Air Guard, and the Texas State Guard.
