President Donald Trump gave an effusive endorsement of Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows on Thursday, praising his leadership and declaring him a “True Warrior for Republicans.”
“Dustin Burrows is a True Warrior for Republicans, and is doing a fantastic job as Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
Trump credited Burrows’ handling of redistricting with delivering a major win for Republicans:
“Thanks to Dustin’s strong and effective Leadership of the Texas House, the incredible people of Texas will have the opportunity to elect five more Republicans to Congress, thanks to the passage of their much more fair new Map — A BIG WIN for Republicans in Texas, and across the Country!”
The president went on to highlight Burrows’ work on a wide range of GOP issues, writing:
“As Speaker, Dustin is fighting tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Lower Taxes, Cut Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Advance American Energy DOMINANCE by helping to keep the price of Gasoline, Oil, and all forms of Energy VERY LOW, Continue to Secure our already Secure Border, Champion School Choice, Support our Military/Veterans, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”
He concluded with his trademark endorsement language:
“Dustin Burrows has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election, as Speaker, and to House District 83 — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
This is not Trump’s first foray into Texas legislative politics. He was a staunch opponent of former Speaker Dade Phelan and earlier this year endorsed all Republican incumbents who backed school choice.
