U.S. Rep. Chip Roy called out the Biden administration for flying hundreds of illegal aliens from California to Texas each week and for wanting to continue to send more, according to the New York Post.
“It’s offensive as a Texan,” Roy (TX-21) told The Post. “We’ve been dealing with the brunt of this for three and a half years and all prior, and now you got California all too happy to basically go along with the Biden administration’s failures and then leave us holding the bag and now they want to send us even more.”
Because San Diego facilities are overcrowded, taxpayer-funded flights, reportedly costing approximately $80,000 each, transport illegal aliens several times a week from California to Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley to be processed by Border Patrol agents for removal.
However, if illegal aliens qualify for an exemption under the Biden administration rules, they fall under the jurisdiction of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and can be eligible for release into Texas if there is a lack of space.
“The Biden administration not only fought @HouseGOP from securing our southern border, they also went after Texas for border enforcement policies that greatly reduced illegal immigration,” said U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) on X.
She added, “Instead of enforcing our laws and securing the border, @POTUS is now flying illegal immigrants from an overwhelmed California into Texas. Biden’s open border policies are utter madness and must be stopped.”
In an interview earlier this week, Gov. Greg Abbott told KXAN that Texans have suffered and are angry about the Biden administration’s border policy, which allowed illegal crossings to surge.
Abbott called the Biden administration’s inflation or open border “the No. 1 and No. 2 policies and issues in this presidential race.”
As the presumptive Democrat nominee for president, “Kamala Harris doesn’t change that at all. In fact, she is even more responsible for the open border policy,” Abbott said.
Vice President Harris is already facing questions about comments she made regarding extreme views on immigration in the past, including those comparing ICE to the Ku Klux Klan.
