As President Joe Biden’s open border policies have brought more than 2.1 million illegal aliens from 150 different countries to the U.S. this fiscal year, Venezuela is using the unsecured border to send their problematic criminals to America.

Border Security expert Victor Avila told Texas Scorecard he “received information weeks ago about the Venezuelan Government releasing these violent criminals from their prisons and rehabilitation centers.”

“Maduro, the president over there, is sending these criminals—releasing them from prison—straight to the state of Texas.”

Avila also cited a recent report by Breitbart Texas, which confirmed via a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Report that the Venezuelan government is releasing convicted criminals from prison to travel to the U.S. with migrant caravans.

According to Avila, these are “hardcore criminals” and “when we check them, they don’t come back positive with any criminal history because there are no databases that we could check from Venezuela.

“And we’re talking about burglars, rapists, killers, murderers, you name it. They’ll rob you, cheat you, and we’re allowing them just to walk in.”

While at the Del Rio Sector last week, Avila said, “I did not see one Mexican national or one central American. They were all mostly Venezuelans, Colombians, Cubans from Nicaragua, Brazil, Russia. Those are the ones that I saw.”

Indeed, the number of Venezuelans, Cubans, and Nicaraguans crossing the border illegally have skyrocketed in the past year, with a 175 percent increase from August 2021 to August 2022.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus blamed the latest August numbers on “failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba.”

However, it seems Venezuela is purposefully driving their criminal element away and into the U.S.

Avila said, “Every time I go down there, man, I want to hopefully see something better. But it’s actually worse.”

“It’s just out of control. Lawlessness is the best way I could describe it.”

“Thousands of people are entering our country illegally with little to no consequence whatsoever, very little vetting, if at all,” said Avila. “And then just allowed to walk into a country just like that, ignoring our Constitution, our laws, and disrespecting our sovereignty.”

Thus far, 31 counties throughout the state have called on Gov. Greg Abbott to invoke his constitutional authority to declare an invasion of Texas and secure the southern border.

Meanwhile, local officials say the crisis impacts everyone, turning all counties border counties.
