Texas A&M is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding video of an antisemitic incident that went viral on social media Wednesday afternoon.

According to a video posted by the StopAntisemitism account, Yousef Mahdy, a Muslim petroleum engineering student, verbally assaulted two men working a booth for an organization called “Students Supporting Israel.”

In the video, Mahdy repeats a variety of tropes, including references to the students working the booth as “stinky Zionists” and “genocide supporters.” He also repeats several iterations of the discredited assertion that the United States fights wars on behalf of Israel.

The timing of the original incident is unclear.

Following the blowback, TAMU System Chancellor Glenn Hegar stated on social media that “Harassing others with hateful or demeaning language is unacceptable.”

“We are reviewing the facts, and we will act if our policies have been violated,” Hegar continued.

Texas A&M University is a component of the Texas A&M System. The TAMU System is overseen by a Board of Regents appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Texas Senate. Robert Albritton of Fort Worth is the current board chairman.
