One of Texas’ most conservative legislators kicked off her 2018 reelection bid with a renewed commitment to principles of limited government, personal liberty, and free markets.

State Sen. Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) today officially announced her campaign for reelection to Texas Senate District 10. In a press release, Burton said:

“I am extremely proud of the work our team has done on behalf of the people of Senate District 10 and am excited to ask for their support again. I ran on a platform of limited government, personal liberty, and the free market system, and my record over the last two sessions reflects a deep commitment to these principles. Just like before, I will not be outworked by any competitors during this campaign, and to help me achieve that goal, I have assembled a team with tremendous experience. They all share my desire to enthusiastically engage with the voters of Senate District 10 and listen to their concerns.”

Burton was first elected to represent the district in 2014, reclaiming the seat previously held by Democrat Wendy Davis for the Republican Party. She won the majority of precincts in every city in the district during the primary.

Burton says she and her team intend to be even more aggressive in the 2018 campaign.

As a first-term state senator, Burton has earned an A+ career rating on Texans for Fiscal Responsibility’s Fiscal Index, consistently casting pro-taxpayer votes. She’s also a fierce pro-life advocate.

Her principled record has also made her extremely popular with conservative activists. Texans selected Burton as one of the Best Legislators of 2017 in a public survey co-sponsored by Empower Texans and Texas Right to Life.
