After the Texas Freedom Caucus declared open and total war on House Leadership, grassroots leaders around the state are rallying around them.
Northeast Tarrant Tea Party President Julie McCarty said on Twitter she’d been hearing a ton of praise for those members who stood up and fought against House Speaker Joe Straus and his leadership team.

Another leader agreed, but focused her attention more on those who betrayed their own party in order to participate in a vindictive attack on conservatives.
In an email Friday, Grassroots America We the People leader JoAnn Fleming sided decisively with the conservative members and called out the other members of the House Republican Caucus for siding with Democrats to punish the Texas Freedom Caucus and kill conservative reforms. She also called for conservative Republicans around the state to hold lawmakers accountable for their betrayal.
“While the Texas GOP leadership has stood silently by all session long, allowing GOP House leadership to once again kill conservative bills that came straight from the Texas Republican Party Platform – straight from the delegate activists – the Freedom Caucus has consistently raised the conservative platform banner high,” said Fleming. “What do they get for standing for the stated principles and values of the Republican Party of Texas? They are bludgeoned by the worthless toadies of the GOP establishment.”
“Make no mistake about it – it is time for GOP County Chairs, County Executive Committees, and the SREC to blow the dust off the Censure Rule. It’s time to put up or shut up,” she added.
