Many people watching last week’s hearing of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary were surprised to glimpse U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Houston) caught slyly passing an envelope to one of the attorneys representing Christine Blasey Ford.

Her office has now suggested it was merely notes of encouragement, but others wonder why that was so urgent that a member of Congress would play errand girl. (Video is available below.)

Frankly, it begs credulity someone as self-important as Rep. Jackson Lee would be slyly passing notes like a junior high girl. Credible allegations have been floated that she was delivering payment to the “pro bono” lawyers representing Ford.

As noted by NewsTalk 1290’s morning host Mike Hendren, “Lee looks clearly uneasy as she hands over the envelope and retreats.”

So what was really in the envelope, Sheila?

For the sake of transparency, Senate Democrats should release of the contents immediately. If her conduct was becoming of a Member of Congress, then such disclosure will set aside any credible allegations of impropriety. Such disclosure would show if she is really the “queen” of the House she claims to be, or a flunky messenger for the Planned Parenthood mob trucked in to “protest” the proceedings.

Either way, it will tell Texas a lot about the woman who has claimed the Constitution is 400 years old and that the Apollo program landed on Mars.

Perhaps the Democrat staffers on the committee should open an investigation? The Senate’s Judiciary Committee’s Democrat staffers can be contacted at: jennifer_duck@judiciary-dem.senate.gov and heather_sawyer@judiciary-dem.senate.gov.
