A conservative attorney is out with bombshell evidence showing that Texas medical schools have been purchasing organs taken from aborted babies by Planned Parenthood. Briscoe Cain, the Texas legal counsel to the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, revealed invoices and emails showing the illegal sales.
Cain is also the conservative candidate for state representative in House District 128, which covers portions of Baytown, La Porte, Deer Park, and Pasadena. The seat is currently held by Rep. Wayne Smith.
The documents reveal that the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso all purchased aborted fetal tissue from Advanced Bioscience Resource Center. That group markets aborted fetal tissue that is procured from Planned Parenthood Abortion clinics.
Planned Parenthood is the subject of multiple state investigations after videos showed Planned Parenthood officials conspiring to profit from the sale of organs taken from aborted babies. In one of the videos, a top Planned Parenthood official scoffs that she plans to use the funds to buy a Lamborghini.
Last session, State Rep. Scott Turner, who challenged Joe Straus to serve as Speaker of the Texas House, successfully passed an amendment barring state funds from being used to fund research that destroys human embryos. That amendment was opposed by Rep. John Zerwas, Straus’s chairman of Higher Education.
The Turner amendment provided:
No funds appropriated under this Act shall be used in conjunction with or to support research which involves the destruction of a human embryo.
After a vigorous debate in the early morning hours on budget night, the amendment was adopted by a vote of 90–51.
Republicans Byron Cook (R–Corsicana), Sarah Davis (R–West University Place), Dan Huberty (R–Houston), John Raney (R–College Station), Debbie Riddle (R–Tomball), J.D. Sheffield (R-Gatesville), Wayne Smith (R–Baytown), and John Zerwas (R–Richmond) voted with the Democrats to oppose the amendment.
Cook, Huberty, Riddle, and Smith later entered journal statements claiming they intended to vote “yes.” Davis, Raney, Sheffield, and Zerwas stood by their vote in opposition to the amendment.
If Briscoe Cain is successful in his run for state representative, perhaps he will pick up where Turner left off and carry legislation prohibiting tax dollars from going towards research using aborted babies. At the very least, it’s certain Cain would fight harder than his predecessor on pro-life issues.

In fact, the four Republican representatives initially voted with the Democrats against the amendment but then placed statements in the journal claiming they intended to vote “yes.”
