State Representative Jason Villalba (R–Dallas), infamous in the Texas Legislature for drunken late-night twitter rants, a dismal voting record, and most recently losing his primary election to his conservative challenger, Lisa Luby Ryan, is continuing to demonstrate why voters decided to kick him out of office in a new op-ed published on TribTalk, the opinion section of the Texas Tribune.
In the piece, Villalba calls for the impeachment of the duly-elected President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
Rising national debt— which never merited impeachment when Obama was president—Trump’s criticisms of America’s immigration laws, and a re-evaluation of our national foreign policy strategy are all, in Villalba’s eyes, reasons for impeachment.
The piece has received widespread condemnation from Republicans, who view this as Villalba’s last gasp for relevancy. Villalba’s former campaign treasurer Doug Deason even offered some advice to him in the comments:
His criticism of Villalba’s writing likely stems from the particularly flowery style that Villalba employed in the article.
This is far from the first time Villalba has attacked President Trump and conservatives. In 2016, Villalba penned another op-ed in which he referred to Trump as a “bigoted, orange, buffoonish, ignorant ape.” And just recently, the sore loser took to Twitter urging constituents to vote against Lisa Luby Ryan in the November general election.
In the last line of the piece, Villalba opines “Today I ask you to impeach Trump”. Thankfully, taxpayers can rest assured that Villalba’s audience consists only on liberal democrats now, and that his seat in the Texas Legislature will likely be occupied by a principled conservative in the near future.
