Gov. Greg Abbott is heading into the 2026 election year with a massive financial advantage, according to newly filed semiannual campaign finance reports.
A statement from Abbott’s campaign touted that he has received more than one million unique individual contributions over the course of his gubernatorial campaigns, with nearly 90 percent of those contributions coming from Texans.
During the most recent reporting period, covering the second half of 2025, his campaign reported raising $22.7 million through more than 48,000 contributions from all 254 Texas counties.
Texas Ethics Commission filings show the overwhelming majority of Abbott’s campaign cash is being held not in his candidate account, but in a supporting political action committee.
Texans for Greg Abbott—filed as a political action committee—reported $105,088,492 in cash on hand at the end of 2025, after taking in $22,710,294 in political contributions and spending $6,960,135 during the reporting period.
Abbott’s candidate/officeholder account, filed separately, reported $648,687 cash on hand.
Together, the two accounts total $105,737,179 in cash on hand.
Abbott is facing 10 opponents in the Republican primary, though none have reported fundraising totals comparable to Abbott’s operation.
In the General Election, Abbott’s likely opponent is Austin Democrat State Rep. Gina Hinojosa.
Hinojosa’s report shows she raised $1,038,189 during the same reporting period and ended the year with $661,125 cash on hand.
