No. 99 defensive lineman Preston Gordon transferred to the Texas Tech Red Raiders this year after spending three seasons at Rice University.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 280-pound defensive tackle is viewed as a strong addition to Texas Tech’s team, which is said to be rebuilding its defense, according to 247sports.com. In 35 games at Rice, Gordon logged 87 tackles, 14.5 stops, and started in 28 games.

This year, his first with the Red Raiders, he has made 16 tackles in eight games, alongside 13 assists. A native of McKinney, Texas, Gordon played for Heritage High School as a No. 373 state-ranked senior defensive tackle and running back, Maxpreps.com reports.

So far this season, the Red Raiders have five wins and three losses ahead of their Nov. 3 game against Oklahoma.
