Gary Overshown still figures prominently in the TCU Horned Frogs’ long-term plans.
A redshirt sophomore, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound defensive end has just three tackles over his first three seasons in Arlington, according to ESPN, but his combination of speed and athleticism is still viewed by coaches as valuable commodities.
Overshown came to TCU as one of the most sought-after defensive linemen in the country, ranked No. 9 in Texas by 24/7.com as a weak-side defensive end and No. 72 nationally as a high school senior. Rated as the No. 128 player overall in Texas, he chose TCU over Oklahoma and Iowa.
The Dallas News has also reported TCU Coach Gary Patterson is intrigued by Overshown’s combination of size and quickness.
Overshown starred at Horn High School, where he registered 48 tackles, six sacks and two pass breakups as a senior after a junior year where he was tabbed as a first-team all-district selection.
