Alex Turner is counting on making a fresh start to an already productive East Carolina football career.
After registering 45 tackles in 11 games for the Pirates this season, the 6-foot-2, 293-pound junior tackle is looking to ingratiate himself in new coach Mike Houston’s scheme for next season.
According to ESPN, Turner added four sacks to his defensive totals this season after being tabbed for the program’s “Defensive Big of the Year” award as a sophomore.
Coming out of Jersey Village High, Turner was a member of the National Honor Society and chose ECU over Tulane and Vanderbilt. Starring for Coach David Snokhous, Turner was also a two-time all-district selection and three-year letterman while serving as team captain.
During the summer of 2015, he also earned overall MVP status at the Texas 5-Star Showcase prior to the start of his senior season, putting him on ECU’s radar and that of several other programs.
Houston was officially named the Pirates new coach at a Dec. 4 press conference.
