Jada Peacock’s parents, Dexter and Miniki, were both college hoops veterans, Dexter with the Langston University Lions and Miniki at Louisiana Tech. That lineage already has Jada off to a strong start with the Wichita State University (WSU) Shockers.

Peacock is a kinesiology major at WSU, a school she chose over others, including UTEP and New Mexico State, according to her college bio. The Arlington native played for Allen High School, earning basketball letters each year and “helped lead Allen to its first-ever playoff appearance.” The All-District player was Defensive Player of the Year with a per-game average of 15 points, three assists and two steals.

With a strong foundation from high school to her credit, Peacock played in 18 games for WSU. She averaged 9.7 points per game last year, making 9 of 31 field goal attempts. Her 1.2 points per game is deceptive. During the last six games of the season, she averaged 14.8 minutes play time per game and 4.65 points per game. Even in her first game, the Nov. 7 match up against Arkansas Pine Bluff, she scored 11 points.
