College Park alumnus Jonathan Tybur recently brought home a gold medal in swimming at the World University Games, which was held July 3-14 in Napoli, Italy.

Tybur got his gold as part of Team USA’s first-place finish in the preliminaries of the 400-meter medley relay. Team USA eventually won the event. Swimming the breaststroke leg, Tybur had a split time of 1 minute, 0.67 seconds.

He also notched two top-eight finishes at the Southeastern Conference Championships in the 200 breaststroke as an Aggie, and had top-20 showings there in 100 breaststroke and 400 individual medley in his career.

Tybur, a native of the Woodlands, earned numerous top-five finishes while competing for College Park as well as at the Winter Junior National Championships. He set the school record in the breaststroke during his time there as well.
