State Rep. David Leibowitz wants you to do something about bullying. Specifically, the Helotes Democrat wants to use your money to pay for a bullying hotline that a “primary or secondary school student” can use to “report an incident of bullying.”
This takes the nanny state to a new level. Growing up I knew the best way to handle a bully was to knock him in the nose, or (as a last resort, if he was too big) to report the problem to mom and dad. These days, Leibowitz and Company want kids to use a confidential taxpayer hotline so state employees can cover the bully in red tape and bureaucratic therapy.
One benefit: If this thing gets enacted, taxpayers could use it to report on the appraisal district, city council, county commissioners and even lawmakers. I feel bullied every time I find out what they are costing me.
