Fort Worth Independent School District trustees have approved working with the controversial organization Girls Inc., which is known to promote radical gender ideology and abortion.
The Dallas Express recently reported that trustees approved after-school services from Girls Inc. of Tarrant County for the 2024-2025 school year. According to the agenda item, Fort Worth ISD will use $105,000 from their general fund to pay for Girls Inc. services.
The agenda item states:
The program will provide weekly sessions with girls from each identified campus throughout the 2024 – 2025 school year. The contractor provides extra-curricular events and services for all participating girls. As part of these services girls will receive academic support, build leadership skills, explore career options, focus on personal health, and engage in regular conversations regarding behavior management and conduct. The program will work closely with campus leadership to define and assess specific campus needs. Girls will receive support in addressing life challenges to stay on track academically. The social skills support and behavior management components of this program are critical to the success of the participating girls.
The services will be offered to 48 campuses in Fort Worth ISD, including at elementary, middle, and high schools.
Texas Scorecard previously highlighted multiple instances of Girls Inc. supporting abortion and celebrating the LGBT agenda on its social media platforms.
In one post on X, Girls Inc. wrote about celebrating LGBT “Pride” month saying, “This #PrideMonth, we’re celebrating the resilience, creativity, & contributions of the #LGBTQ2IA+ community, & reaffirming our commitment to creating a world where every girl can thrive, regardless of her sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Another post on Instagram celebrated “Transgender Awareness Week.”
“It is Transgender Awareness Week, a time to celebrate and raise awareness of the transgender community through advocacy and education. Girls Inc. believes in creating diverse, inclusive, and equitable environments,” the post read.
Last year, Girls Inc. also posted its stance on abortion saying, “Girls Inc. believes that reproductive healthcare, including contraception and abortion services, should be available and accessible to all women.”
On the Girls Inc. of Tarrant County’s website, the organization notes that its programs are “open to all girls and does not discriminate based upon race, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and / or religion.”
When asked why Fort Worth ISD was working with Girls Inc., a spokesperson for the district referred Texas Scorecard to the original agenda item.
Girls Inc. has been making waves in Fort Worth. Last week, it was announced that Fort Worth’s Republican Mayor Mattie Parker would be serving on Girls Inc. of Tarrant County’s inaugural advisory committee.
However, last year, the Tarrant County Commissioners voted against allocating more than $115,000 in state grants to Girls Inc. in a 3-2 vote. The three commissioners who voted against it said they were concerned about the messaging put on display by the national organization.
Tarrant County GOP Chair Bo French told Texas Scorecard that the recent move to work with Girls Inc. only proves that the district is trying to impose leftist ideology onto its students.
“Girls Inc. supports abortion and radical transgender ideology. The overwhelming majority of parents do not want their kids anywhere near a group pushing those. Yet, Fort Worth ISD continues to prove they are pushing radical ideology on kids,” said French. “It’s no wonder so many kids are not at grade level in math and reading. FWISD needs a top to bottom overhaul, and we will have that chance in May of 2025.”
