With control of the U.S. Senate potentially hanging in the balance, the Republican National Committee is revealing the extent of its massive effort to keep Texas red in today’s election.
In details provided exclusively to Texas Scorecard, the RNC outlined an extensive ground operation aimed at turning out Republican voters in the closely watched contest between Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico.
According to the RNC, its operation has knocked on more than 8.3 million doors, and completed nearly 2.2 million voter surveys and voter contacts across Texas this election cycle.
The committee says its door-knocking and voter survey totals are the highest of any state in the country this cycle.
“With Texas set to be the most expensive Senate race in history, the RNC has left nothing to chance,” RNC Chairman Joe Gruters told Texas Scorecard. “We have built a data-driven political juggernaut that identifies, targets, and turns out the voters we need to keep the Lone Star State ruby red.”
The operation includes a state director and multiple regional field staff members coordinating get-out-the-vote efforts across Texas.
Beyond voter turnout, the RNC has also assembled a statewide election integrity operation, recruiting 100 volunteer attorneys, 3,700 poll workers, 400 poll watchers, and 125 special monitors.
Nationally, the committee says it has signed up approximately 21,500 poll workers, nearly double its total at the same point in the 2024 election cycle.
The RNC says those efforts are designed to prepare for potential issues that could arise on Election Day.
But the committee’s involvement has extended well beyond knocking on doors and monitoring polling locations.
According to the RNC, it has played a central role in shaping the Republican campaign against Talarico, claiming responsibility for placing or releasing approximately 90 percent of the opposition research clips, stories, and political attacks targeting the Democrat.
The RNC says they also worked to bolster Paxton’s fundraising, featuring the attorney general at its spring dinner as Republicans sought to counter significant spending from Democrat-aligned donors.
“With out-of-state liberal billionaires flooding Texas with an unprecedented tsunami of funding, the Republican National Committee has provided the firepower to not just fight back but to win,” said Paxton.
The national party’s investment has also been reinforced by repeated visits from President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Trump has held rallies in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Lubbock, while Vance has appeared in Harlingen, Tyler, and Weatherford.
At their recent rallies, both leaders have emphasized the importance of Republican turnout, warning supporters against complacency in a state that has reliably voted Republican in statewide elections for decades.
The RNC also held its midterm convention in Dallas in September, further underscoring the national party’s focus on Texas.
The aggressive operation comes as Republicans fight to defend a Senate seat that Democrats have made a major target, with both parties pouring resources into what is expected to be the most expensive Senate contest in American history.
