Democrats yet again offered legislation to end the partial shutdown of the federal government without providing the border security money requested by the president. And, yet again, Texas’ Will Hurd was one of a handful of Republicans to stand with Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The measure, labeled H.R. 264, passed the House 240-188. Only eight Republicans joined with the Democrats, including Hurd. Every other Texas Republican voted against the measure.

This is the second time in two weeks that Hurd has broken with Republicans to join with Democrats in opposing President Trump’s border security initiative.

In a speech to the nation on Tuesday, Trump said, “The federal government remains shutdown for one reason and one reason only: Because Democrats will not fund border security.”

That is, the Democrats and Will Hurd.
