Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles, California criticized Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for busing illegal aliens into the city while the area was under a tropical storm warning.

In a statement, Bass claimed that Abbott placed illegal aliens in harm’s way.

“It is evil to endanger the lives of vulnerable migrants by sending a bus with families and toddlers on board to a city that at the time was under an unprecedented tropical storm warning,” said Bass.

Although Los Angeles was still under a flood advisory and experiencing heavy rain when the bus arrived on August 21, the storm had been declared a post-tropical storm, and rainfall diminished by the afternoon.

This was the ninth bus of illegal aliens to arrive in Los Angeles since Abbott started sending them to the city in June 2023.

Abbott said Los Angeles’ distinction as a “sanctuary city” influenced his decision to send illegal aliens to the area.

“Los Angeles is a major city that migrants seek to go to, particularly now that its city leaders approved its self-declared sanctuary city status,” said Abbott. “Our border communities are on the frontlines of President Biden’s border crisis, and Texas will continue providing this much-needed relief until he steps up to do his job and secure the border.”

Abbott’s busing scheme has delivered more than 21,000 illegal aliens to “sanctuary” cities such as D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Denver—a mere drop in the bucket compared to the hundreds of thousands who have entered Texas illegally in the past two years, leaving devastation in their wake.

Although Abbott started busing illegal aliens out of Texas last year, he took a short break from the program and restarted the campaign after the expiration of Title 42 in May.

Abbott has promised to continue the scheme until President Joe Biden secures the border.

Earlier this week, Abbott hosted a press conference in Eagle Pass with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to “respond to President Joe Biden’s reckless open border policies.”

Abbott and the other four governors condemned Biden’s response to the border crisis.

“President Biden is not doing his job, and he is responsible for the largest amount of illegal immigration in the history of the United States and has rolled out a deadly welcome mat with a record number of people dying attempting to cross the border,” said Abbott. “There is a reason the United Nations has named the border between the United States and Mexico the deadliest land border in the entire world. President Biden is responsible for that deadly border, and we’re not going to stand idly by.”
