On Wednesday, the Republican Party of Texas came out strongly against the second Democrat-led attempt to impeach President Donald Trump, calling it a frivolous and cruel gesture that will only work to exacerbate division in this country.

“The second attempt to impeach President Trump shows that Democrats would rather play vindictive politics instead of engaging in the business of the American people,” said Republican Party of Texas Chairman Allen West. “Vilifying their opponents as neo-Nazis, white nationalists, and Uncle Toms will only deepen mistrust and division in this country.”

West also pointed to other events to demonstrate a double standard, with President Barack Obama never facing impeachment after the Benghazi attacks or sending money to the Iranian regime.

He also claimed that the ad hominem attacks and censorship used by Democrats and Big Tech would only marginalize those with concerns about election integrity and job-killing lockdowns, both of which are top priorities of the Texas GOP.

The statement ended by noting the “entire Texas GOP stands behind Chairman West on this.”
