In a letter to the leadership of the U.S. House, Texas’ Representative Ronny Jackson (R) asked that his colleague, Democrat Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, be prohibited from receiving classified information.
According to Jackson’s letter to House Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry (R), and minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D), Tlaib has “chosen to side with Hamas by spreading misinformation.”
When the conflict first began, Jackson said instead of joining the rest of the U.S., Tlaib refused to condemn Hamas’ horrific acts of war against Israeli civilians.
Jackson also stated that when videos and reports emerged of an explosion at a hospital in Gaza, Tlaib chose to spread misinformation accusing the Israeli Defense Forces of being responsible and harming civilians.
“Despite Israel’s denial of these claims, video evidence to the contrary, a statement from President Biden absolving Israel, and the assessment of United States intelligence officials that Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists were responsible, Congresswoman Tlaib has insisted on spreading misinformation by blaming Israel for the blast at the hospital in Gaza, which is indisputably false,” Jackson wrote. “In doing so, she has incited antisemitic violence and endangered many lives.
Jackson pointed out that Tlaib has consistently demonstrated antisemitic behavior and sided with the terrorist group Hamas instead of Israel during the current Israel-Hamas conflict.
In July, Tlaib took to the House floor to “wrongfully describe Israel as an apartheid state before voting against a resolution which reaffirmed that Israel is not a racist or apartheid state.”
In 2021, when Congress was replenishing Israel’s missile defense stocks to defend itself from “unprovoked rocket attacks” from Hamas, Tlaib voted against the measure.
“It has become clear that Congresswoman Tlaib’s allegiance lies with Hamas, therefore she cannot be trusted with sensitive information,” wrote Jackson. “Her participation in classified discussions around Israel’s self-defense would threaten the integrity of the operation and put American and Israeli lives at risk.” He demanded that her security clearance be “immediately” revoked and that she barred from any such “relevant meetings.”
“You do not let the enemy know your plans, and letting Representative Tlaib into these briefings is doing exactly that,” Jackson stated in a press release. “Furthermore, this anti-American, anti-Jewish sentiment from elected ‘leaders’ must STOP, it is dangerous!”
Jackson further explained how concerned he is “that we have Members of Congress who are antisemites and support Hamas” and “that we let those Members of Congress attend classified briefings on the war in Israel.”
“While I cannot control the fact that these leftists’ districts elect terrorist sympathizers to office, I will do everything in my power as a member of the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees to bar them from receiving American intelligence on the current situation in Israel,” Jackson stated.
“While there has been broad bipartisan support for Israel’s right to self-defense, we must not allow Hamas sympathizers in this body to serve as the mouthpiece for Palestinian terrorists,” Jackson wrote in his letter.
