As more information comes to light on the “woke” ideology permeating the nation’s military, Republican lawmakers in Congress are fighting back.

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Kerrville) has introduced the Restoring Military Focus Act, which will push back against the Democrats’ politicization of the Department of Defense.

The bill would also seek to eliminate the positions of chief diversity officer and senior advisors for Diversity and Inclusion, and prohibit the use of federal funds to establish these positions in the future.

In November, Roy and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R–FL) released a report revealing how Pentagon leaders are pushing woke ideologies, such as critical race theory and gender theory, within the military.

In the report, Rubio and Roy outline an instance where an admiral insisted that midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy read “How to Be an Antiracist,” a book that teaches that capitalism is racist and that people are inherently oppressed or privileged based on the color of their skin.

Additionally, the Department of Defense currently allows for members to cosmetically “transition” from their biological sex to the opposite sex while on active duty. Services are also requiring their members to receive training on how to use pronouns properly and when to recommend that their subordinates consider gender reassignment surgery.

“The Pentagon’s job is to develop our men and women in the Armed Forces into a united, lethal, and battle-ready force to defeat our enemies and defend our interests. It is not supposed to be a woke social engineering experiment wrapped in a uniform,” said Roy. “The American people gave House Republicans the power of the purse in November; we need to deliver on our promises and restore mission focus to our Armed Forces.”

Sen. Rubio also introduced similar legislation in the Senate, saying that woke ideology has torn apart communities and weakened the military.

“Woke ideology has infected every aspect of American life and culture. It is hurting our kids, tearing apart communities, and weakening our military,” said Rubio.“Meanwhile, our adversaries are laughing at us. This is crazy and has to stop. I will continue to fight for common sense to be restored to our government and way of life.”

Concerned citizens can contact their congressman to register their opinion on how their elected official should vote to rid the military of woke ideology.
