An Aldine Independent School District teacher has been arrested and charged with felony injury to a child following an alleged assault involving a student at G.W. Carver High School.

According to court records, the incident occurred on January 14 and stemmed from a dispute involving the teacher’s daughter and another student. The teacher, identified as Jacenta Keish Green, 43, is accused of following the student across campus before the confrontation escalated into a physical altercation in the school cafeteria.

Investigators say Green first encountered the student near a restroom, where a verbal confrontation began. Court documents allege Green continued following the student while recording her on a cellphone, eventually leading her toward the cafeteria where Green’s daughter was seated. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly captured portions of the encounter.

Once inside the cafeteria, the situation escalated. Court records allege Green placed the student, a girl under the age of 15, in a headlock. Investigators say Green’s daughter then joined the confrontation, and both are accused of striking the student and pulling her hair and clothing. A bystander video shared with investigators reportedly showed the altercation lasting more than a minute as school staff attempted to intervene.

According to court documents, an administrator tried to separate the individuals, but the conflict resumed after the student attempted to walk away. Green is accused of grabbing a chair and swinging or attempting to throw it at the student before charging at her again. The student reportedly fell backward onto cafeteria furniture, injuring her back.

School staff ultimately broke up the fight. Court records state Green and her daughter left the campus without providing a statement to administrators or law enforcement.

The student’s mother later told KHOU 11 that her daughter was taken to the hospital for treatment and has struggled to return to school following the incident. She questioned how Green was able to leave campus without giving a statement and said the delay between the incident and the arrest left her frustrated. The mother said she decided to speak publicly in hopes of preventing similar incidents from happening to other students.

Green was charged with injury to a child roughly more than a week after the incident, according to court filings. She was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, where she was initially held on a $10,000 bond.

Court records also indicate Green previously faced misdemeanor assault charges in 2021, which were resolved through a diversion bond.

Aldine ISD confirmed it immediately placed Green on administrative leave following the incident and notified law enforcement and the Department of Family and Protective Services. In a statement, the district said it conducted an internal investigation and is cooperating with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

“Aldine ISD maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding any adult conduct that compromises student safety,” the district said, adding that student safety remains its top priority.

Green was scheduled to appear in court late last week, but no public update has been released detailing the outcome of that appearance. Court records show she has since been released on bond, and the felony injury to a child charge remains pending in Harris County.
