An Austin elementary school teacher is accused of sexually assaulting a very young student.
Carlos Eduardo Ceniceros Nava, 57, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony.
The Austin ISD Police Department made the arrest.
Ceniceros Nava teaches pre-K and kindergarten students at Winn Montessori School in the Austin Independent School District.
KXAN reported that, according to the arrest affidavit, the student told authorities the teacher assaulted her multiple times during class.
The girl said Ceniceros Nava “would only do this with her” while at his desk and described the act as “our little secret.”
According to the affidavit, Ceniceros Nava denied the allegations.
Ceniceros Nava was reportedly booked into the Caldwell County Jail on April 3 but has since been released.
Austin ISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools Jennifer Pace notified Winn families about Ceniceros Nava’s arrest the same day.
“We know this news is deeply unsettling,” stated Pace.
Please be assured that when the allegation was first reported, the district placed Mr. Carlos on administrative leave. He has remained off-campus and has had no contact with students throughout the Austin ISD police investigation.
Ceniceros Nava has been a primary class dual language teacher at Winn since November 2023.
State records show that Ceniceros Nava does not hold a Texas educator certificate.
He is the latest Texas teacher charged with sex crimes involving students and other children.
Thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
